Song Lyrics |
|
|
It was warm,
And the sunlight sifted softly through the trees
It smelled clean,
With the perfume of the flowers on the breeze
All this beauty was eclipsed by the sweetness of your lips
And the memory of this will carry me
It will carry me, just like a seed it will carry me
In my heart, the awakening of memories of the past
And the start, the beginning of a new love that might last
All the residues of pain washed away by summer rain
A renewal in my heart I can't explain
I can't explain it, but I know it will carry me
It will carry me, like a seed on the wind
It will carry me to a safe place to land
And deep in my heart where the feelings are strong
I'll carry you along
(Repeat first verse, changing 'lips' to 'kiss')

Song Notes |
|
| Just as it’s hard to write with detachment about a breakup, it’s not easy to be free of angst and sappiness when writing about a new love. I was not falling in love or even already in love when the first two verses of “It Will Carry Me” came pouring out. The bridge came later, while driving (not necessarily over a bridge). Sometimes it’s good to listen to the voices in your head! |
