Song Lyrics

You were a road I was rambling on
I was a path you came upon
I looked around and you were gone
I wonder what went wrong
Well, I guess I was mistaken
Now I'm looking down the road not taken

I knew it was coming
From the look in you eyes
I saw the doubts begin to rise
There was no more room for compromise
No, it wasn't a surprise
Even so my faith is shaken
Looking down the road not taken

Well, I've heard it before and since
I am too intense
And I am relentless in my love
The feeling were so strong
I thought we would just go on
I don't know what I was thinking of

I've taken it to heart and I've let it fly
I've given up on wondering why
When there's no release and there's no reply
Just a growing patch of blue in the sky
And indeed my heart is aching
Looking down the road not taken

You were a path that I stumbled upon
I wouldn't say you led me on
And it ain't so bad to go it alone
Still I wish you'd turn around
And see you were mistaken
Looking down the road not taken

Song Notes

I am so glad to have written this for someone who totally deserves to have a nice song written about them. One of the kindest people I’ve ever known, he made me feel totally validated even in the face of rejection and not the least bit creepy for being the one who wanted to keep hanging on. We have remained close friends ever since.

Music without words means leaving behind the mind. And leaving behind the mind is meditation.
Meditation returns you to the source. And the source of all is sound. — Kabir
