At age thirteen, Bill's music career started with the advent of the so called " British Music Invasion" playing drums and keyboards in local Michigan bands. The late 70's found Bill in Salt lake City, Utah where he befriended jazz singer, Bobby McFerin, who introduced him to accompanying modern dance.
From 1980 to 1986, Bill performed and toured with various modern dance companies in the States. Ironically enough, Bill being the self-taught musician that he is, landed a temporary accompaniment position at the Julliard School of Performing Arts in N.Y.C. Since the late 80's, Bill has composed music for video and film including "Santa Cruz Homeless Garden Project " narrated by Harrison Ford and "Visions of the Goddess" featured at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, Califorinia.
In 1995, Bill released his debut solo CD, "Dream in Colour" which was well received at the Medum Music Conference in Nice, France that same year.
Bill presently resides in the Los Gatos area of California where he is busy working on his second solo release.

NAPRA ReView
"Composer/keyboardist McGurrin creates a very smooth balance between meditation and jazz, a musical bridge to the spirit that many contemporary instrumental musicians strive for." - Carol Wright
New Age Retailer
"Neon-lit cover art belies the subtly nuance music within. McGurrin and company have crafted a superbly detailed eight song set that is expressive in the extreme. Keyboards, percussion, trombone, trumpet, oboe, and bass are artfully arranged to evoke a kaleidoscope of moods and reveries. From the deeply soulful "Moraga" with its sighing horn solo to the meditative piano-oboe showcase "Gifts of Stillness," McGurrin's compositional skills demonstrate an impressive ability to access those emotions most difficult to express. His melodies dwell in the land of fond reminiscence, those quiet places of the heart that make one's lips curve into a gentle smile with just a thought. A debut recording this well done is a rarity!" - P. J. Birasik
Staff Notes
The music of Bill McGurrin ranges from impressionistic acoustic sounds often
associated with record labels like Windham Hill and Narada to soft,
jazz-tinged compositions. This reviewer was especially impressed with his imaginative use of trumpet, trombone, and other brass instruments in a more laid back New Age context than one usually associates with them. Beautiful sparkling keyboard work, as well. This music could be enjoyed at any time, but makes for the perfect soundtrack to a Sunday morning. - Michael Diamond, SongPeddler
Music without words means leaving behind the mind. And leaving behind the mind is meditation.
Meditation returns you to the source. And the source of all is sound. — Kabir
