Notes
“Sidthe” (pronounced “shee-dah” or “sigh-dee-oh”) is a Gaelic word referring to the fairy folk, who have been given beauty, joy, music, and the power over all the mysteries of nature. Some define it as the never-never land where the fairies can sometimes be found, a place between our world and theirs.
Clarelynn Rose, a self-taught guitarist and forester from California’s redwood country, began playing guitar at age 17 after losing her harp and viola in a fire. She has spent countless hours in the company of the coastal redwoods of Northern California. Many of these pieces were inspired by and written in the redwood and mixed conifer forests of the Pacific Northwest. Clarelynn currently lives in Mendocino County, California.
A very special thanks to friend John Renbourn for his inspiration, encouragement and support. Another special thanks to Alex de Grassi for the inspiration over the years and his generosity with his time, equipment, and dogs during the development of this CD.
Thank you to Daniel Hecht, Angela String, Tom Nunamaker, Dave Hannaford, Rita Samols & Norm Peck, Elaine Nolan, Greg Betsworth, Matthew Lyon, and of course, Grandma.
Music without words means leaving behind the mind. And leaving behind the mind is meditation.
Meditation returns you to the source. And the source of all is sound. — Kabir
