Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Jimmy started playing piano when he was five and within a couple of years was taking classical piano training at a music conservatory. After achieving high honors in his second year of instruction, he was summarily dismissed by the administrators because, as they put it, "His ear was too good for his own good." As he matured, Jimmy took up jazz organ, and after a couple of years of private lessons, he decided to just let the creative juices flow. He started composing his own songs. In the early seventies, he added the Moog synthesizer to his growing collection of electric keyboards. Being influenced by the seminal recording of Switched-on Bach by Walter Carlos, Jimmy started using two reel-to-reel tape-recorders to bounce tracks back and forth to achieve a multi-track recording before such devices were available to the home musician. As a one-man-band, Jimmy was able to layer different sounds from the keyboards to create a full multi-timbered sound for his compositions. Over the years, more sophisticated synthesizers and recording equipment were added to his home studio. Jimmy now resides in Boca Raton, Florida, and continues to compose, perform, and record his own instrumental songs that range in genre from Classical to New Age and Smooth Jazz.
