Reviews
San Francisco Chronicle: Didgeridoo artist Stephen Kent dedicates his latest release to world peace, and "Oil & Water" certainly hopscotches beautifully around the globe. At one point, the album veers from a spirited meditation with Rajasthani flutes ("Thel Kupa," featuring Steev Kindwald) to a soulful piece incorporating the Moroccan guimbri ("Ouled Sergo," featuring Yassir Chadly). Throat singing anchors another song, while Scottish bagpipes are the focus of the album's denouement. All the way through, Kent adjusts his Aboriginal instrument accordingly; the sounds are complementary and integrated, not slapped together for effect. "Oil & Water" is an atmospheric treasure -- a cool template of what (musically speaking) the world could be like if people collaborated with the same sense of purpose. -- Jonathan Curiel
Music without words means leaving behind the mind. And leaving behind the mind is meditation.
Meditation returns you to the source. And the source of all is sound. — Kabir
