is a Brazilian dance music, related to the Samba, which arose in Brazil during the late ‘50s as a combination of Brazilian rhythms with cool West Coast jazz. It can be differentiated from other Brazilian dance styles by the particular rhythms that are played by the drums, percussion, guitar, keyboard, and bass that provide a distinct Bossa Nova riff that includes accentuating eighth note upbeats.
